Commusoft is a UK-built field service platform aimed at HVAC, plumbing and electrical contractors, now selling into the US market. It runs the full job lifecycle: enquiry capture, scheduling and dispatch, quoting, invoicing, payments, and after-sales service, with a mobile app for techs and a back-office system for the diary and finances. The core product is branded Commusoft Jobs, extended by paid add-on modules.

Where Commusoft leans hardest is the customer journey and quoting. It is built to send multi-option proposals, automate maintenance-contract scheduling and recurring invoices, and keep the office and field in sync in real time. That focus makes it a closer match for commercial service and recurring-maintenance work than for high-volume residential dispatch. Compared with US-native platforms like ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro, Commusoft is stronger on structured workflow and communication and weaker on flat-rate price books and fleet tracking, reflecting its plumbing-and-heating heritage in the UK.

Who Commusoft is for

Best for mid-size HVAC, plumbing or electrical firms running roughly 5 to 100 technicians that live on recurring maintenance contracts, SLAs and multi-site commercial accounts. It suits offices that want polished quoting and tight customer communication over raw dispatch volume. It is a poor fit for very small shops (there is a license minimum and a 12-month contract), for companies that depend on GPS fleet tracking or flat-rate residential price books, and for anyone who needs QuickBooks Desktop or transparent upfront pricing before committing.

Strengths and limitations

What it does well

  • Multi-option quotes and proposals let you present good/better/best system choices with clear pricing, which reviewers repeatedly single out as a selling advantage.
  • Service-contract management automates recurring maintenance visits and recurring invoicing, plus asset and refrigerant tracking for a compliance audit trail.
  • The mobile app works offline and supports on-site invoicing, rating 4.6/5 on iOS and 4.4/5 on Android in independent reviews.
  • Job costing tracks labor, materials and other costs against each job for a real-time margin view.
  • Customer support is consistently praised as responsive and patient during onboarding, and G2 and Capterra both sit at 4.7/5.

Where it falls short

  • Inventory and stock control tools are thin compared with US-native competitors, so parts-heavy operations may outgrow them.
  • No built-in GPS fleet tracking and no flat-rate price book, both of which residential HVAC shops often expect.
  • As a UK-origin product, some US-specific features lag domestic competitors, and the US customer base is smaller.
  • The Sage accounting integration has become less reliable for some users recently, per Capterra reviews.
  • There is a license floor (reported minimums of 4 to 6 seats) and reviewers report Commusoft declining to reduce seat counts when a company downsized, plus support is email-only.

Commusoft pricing

Commusoft does not publish pricing; every deal is a custom quote after a sales call, and there is no free trial. Independent reports put it in the range of roughly $100 to $200 per user per month depending on plan and modules, with a minimum seat count (commonly cited as 4, with the product targeted at teams of 6 or more). The core Commusoft Jobs product is tiered, with contracted licenses locked into a 12-month term, plus rolling monthly and daily licenses on top. Paid add-on modules include Fleet+ and Sales+, with AI:den+ and Analytics+ listed as coming soon. Expect separate onboarding and data-migration costs that scale with complexity.

Verdict

Commusoft is a strong pick for commercial HVAC, plumbing and electrical firms that run on maintenance contracts and want first-class quoting and customer communication. Look elsewhere if you need GPS fleet tracking, flat-rate residential price books, QuickBooks Desktop, deep inventory control, or you are too small to clear the seat minimum and annual contract. US contractors should weigh its smaller domestic footprint against native rivals.
